Intimacy Coordinator

Fay Simpson Intimacy Coordinator

Fay Simpson brings over 20 years of experience in the movement arts as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, intimacy coordinator, and somatic acting coach. With a keen eye for the nuances of body language, she supports both powerful storytelling and the emotional well-being of the actors.

Her primary goal, on stage or on set, is to foster a safe, trusting environment where actors can fully inhabit their roles, in alignment with the director’s vision. When every point of contact is clearly consented to and thoughtfully rehearsed, the actors are free to focus on their craft without hesitation.

As a steady and adaptable collaborator, Fay helps ground the team, offering the calm needed to navigate high-stakes, emotionally charged scenes.

At the intersection of advocacy and artistry, the intimacy coordinator holds space for vulnerability while ensuring that boundaries are honored, voices are heard, and creative expression remains grounded in consent.

Core Roles for an Intimacy Coordinator

  • Advocating for actors

  • Liaising and negotiating between the actors and production

  • Facilitating clear communication and consent between actors

  • Ensuring adherence to proper protocols

  • Choreographing and coaching movement, if requested

The presence of an intimacy coordinator not only safeguards the creative process, but also strengthens trust, accountability, and emotional integrity on set.

Benefits of having an Intimacy Coordinator on set

  • Makes filming more efficient

  • Helps mitigate sex harassment lawsuits and market risks

  • Protects the emotional and physical safety of actors

  • Mediates between directors/producers and actors

  • Helps the actors to give a better performance
